The Princess and the Soldier A New Fairy Tale eBook H L Burke Reviews
This is a great little fairy tale, but it's Burke so not unexpected. Seriously, but this book and try not to enjoy the tale. It cute, fun, and enjoyable.
It was a great fairy tale, as fairy tales go. Ages 3 to 10, maybe 12, would love it. I found it very readable, if a bit simple.
This little story is just what it sets out to be -- an original tale in the traditional style. It just needs illustrations an big pages to become a child's favorite bedtime read.
Short and sweet. Is exactly as described, just like a spoken word story. Reminds me of some of the stories teachers used to read to the class in grade school.
Perfect for those occasions when you just want a sweet story to pass a little time.
My first story by this author and I enjoyed it. Well written and entertaining, the pages flew by quickly.
The fairytale is 59 percent of the book, the rest is an excerpt from An Ordinary Knight.
This was a sweet, old-fashioned fairy tale. My children enjoyed it, also.
My 5 year old daughter wanted me to include that "she thought it was great, and that she liked the part where they meet Lady Death." My 3 year old son also wants to say that "he liked it, and he liked when she was looking for that guy." ;)
We would all do well to see fairy tales with this kind of consistent courage, loyalty, and strength more often.
This story was so lovely. It had all the elements of fairy tales of old Magic, a wicked servant, an evil queen, a beautiful yet determined princess (no weaklings or damsels in distress here!), and true love. I wouldn't mind reading this to my 6-year-old. Well - there's a part where someone's head gets sliced off and she might freak out at that haha - but otherwise, I loved how the heroine took matters into her own hands despite how desperate she felt, and how in the end, true love (and not giving up!) conquers all. Can't wait to read more from this author! Any chance of an illustrated version? I'd love to see those gowns!
